Course Abstract

This two day course focuses on major factors managers must consider before implementing test automation. A combination of lecture, classroom exercises, and experiential techniques provide attendees strategies to reduce test automation maintenance and increase reusability for positive returns on their tool investment. The course also covers the challenges and pitfalls inherent in automation, and what must occur to overcome them including proper planning, selection of the "right" automation tool, and automation framework considerations. Additionally, managers will learn how to best estimate timelines and resource needs for their automation efforts.

  • Available test automation tools - Covers common open source tools as well as packaged tools and what managers must consider when choosing an automation tool.
  • Test automation approaches - Learn the five most common automation approaches and the pros and cons of each.
